High-temperature techniques such as CVD and thermal evaporation have been mainly employed to grow aligned ZnO nanostructures, for example, nanorods (NRs).

It will be of interest to discover in the future if other long-paced NR oscillations exist and whether they integrate with rhythmic biological processes known to involve NRs, for example, the menstrual cycle, the circadian clock and digestive and metabolic cycles.
Some kinds of Au NPs, for example, gold nanorods (Au NRs), were also found to exhibit adjuvant activities although the detailed mechanisms still need further investigation [25].
