For each extract, three measurements were performed.
For each extract a phytochemical screening was performed.
We conducted at least 3 replicates for each extract.
For each extract used, DPPH radical scavenging activity increased with increasing concentration (p < 0.05).
In addition, untreated cell controls, cell-free treatments and a culture medium control were included for each extract.
More than 100 nanoparticles were randomly selected in TEM images obtained for each extract concentration to plot size histograms.
Chemical screening was performed on aqueous suspensions and organic solutions for each extract, using a well-known protocol [12, 27].
Respective supernatants were then transferred into analytically weighed vials, lyophilised and the mass for each extract was analytically determined.
