The observed δ13C NMR chemical shift for UO2 [CO3]35- is 106.7 ppm [79] compared to the 113.6 ppm average value calculated in our model which is in reasonable agreement for a paramagnetic complex considering that pseudo-contact shifts were not considered.
However, in the presence of a magnetic field, there will be a net statistical alignment of magnetic moments except that now the magnetic moment is that of the MNPs-containing various atoms which can be up to 10 times larger than for a paramagnetic material.
PRE NMR is based on the introduction of a paramagnetic center, for example, an unpaired electron with an isotropic g-tensor like in nitroxide radicals or in the EDTA Mn2+ complex.
The culture was aerated with 1.0 Vvm dried air and off-gas of the culture was measured by using an infrared cell for CO2 and a paramagnetic cell for O2 concentration (Servomax, Hyderabad, India).
The former method, however, requires that proteins be engineered to include single cysteine residues for labeling with a paramagnetic probe.

For a single paramagnetic probe, and assuming the inner-sphere relaxation model, this effect has a r−6 distance dependence [Eq. (8)].
We also summarize results available for vanadium bronzes, where some vanadium is in a paramagnetic V4+ state, and for some vanadium compounds, where closely spaced paramagnetic centers form diamagnetic pairs.
We find a paramagnetic state for 21 Pd atoms ordered on one layer, whereas 33 atoms ordered on two atomic layers display a net magnetic moment.
The relaxation is included with the activation against a single anisotropic barrier for β = 1, revealing a paramagnetic system.
