Automated image analysis tools, such as CellProfiler [ 19], and their thresholding techniques [ 20- 22] often focus on nucleus-based identification of cells, which cannot account for the two large DNA containing organelles in trypanosomatid cells.
We have applied a comprehensive genome analysis strategy to identify the full complement of K-Channels and related genes in the zebra finch genome, and in situ hybridization to determine their brain expression, focusing on nuclei involved in birdsong production and learning.
