The World of Birds, completed in 1972, is a huge, landscaped, indoor free-flight exhibit.
Christchurch is a jumping-off point for excursions to Antarctica, and the center includes top-flight exhibits about national research camps in Antarctica, a snow center with real snow all year, and all-terrain "tundra buggies".
Structure functions for Drosophila flight displacements exhibit power-law scaling behaviour with α≈0.9 when the time increment τ is less than about 1 second, or when the time increment τ, corresponding to the video sampling interval 33 milliseconds, is less than the average time to fly cross the arena in our experiments (minimally 3-seconds) (Fig. 2).
