In contrast to using OTU clusters, binning by taxonomy allows inherent flexibility in the level of 16S gene sequence identity within each bin in different lineages.
First, the adopted three-layer approach, inspired by the FOCALE cognitive control loops, provides an important flexibility in the level of proactiveness that can be achieved.
