A similar torque-to-thrust conversion can be obtained by either rotating an axially fixed screw to drive a rotationally fixed nut along the screw or by rotating an axially fixed nut to drive a rotationally fixed screw through the nut.
They were mainly supporting fixed screw-retained prostheses, and delayed implant loading was performed.
The use of ultrasonic equipment has also proven to be effective in dislodging fixed screw remnants at the risk of damaging the inner portion or overheating the implant.
Commercially available titanium dental implants were inserted in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and after 8 weeks of healing, fixed screwed-retained prosthetic restorations were placed (Fig. 3).
Time was allowed for soft tissue healing, and after 3 months implants were uncovered, 45° abutments placed and a fixed, screw-retained prosthesis ended the rehabilitation (Fig. 4).

Onlay bone grafting techniques have some problems related to the limited volume of autogenous grafted bone and need for surgery to remove bone fixing screws.
Such resorbable fixation materials offer many advantages for osteosynthesis over titanium screws in oral maxillofacial surgery, because several of the above-mentioned problems arising from the need to remove the bone fixing screws are eliminated [ 7- 9].
