Pin tract infections are the most common complication of external fixation, reported at between 0.9% and 60%[555, 78, 79, 80, 81].
Infection rates after open reduction and internal fixation reported by Jiang et al. [13], Yang et al. [27], and Moore et al. [9] are 7.3, 13.6, and 19%% respectively, while Young et al. [10] reported an 87.5 % infection rate after dual plating of high-energy bicondylar tibial plateau fractures.
The groups cemented HA (NFB 12) and uncemented HA (NFB 02) were defined based on detailed information about the implant type and fixation reported to the NHFR.
Patients with displaced fractures operated with internal fixation reported lower satisfaction with the result of the operation, more pain, and a lower quality of life (EQ-5D index score)—at both four and twelve months compared to patients with undisplaced fractures operated with internal fixation (Table 4).

Reports with external Ilizarov ring fixation report about reduced shoulder or elbow motion in up to 7% of the cases [4].
Useful practical recommendations became available from the early papers dealing with HER2 testing as to the use of commercially available and validated antibodies, internal validation, fixation issues, reporting and proper training of pathologists participating in HER2 testing [ 1, 23, 24, 27, 28].
