Using a spatial individual-based simulation model for simulating different movement behaviours, we derive fitting functions for the functional relationship between the parameters of the dispersal function and several details of movement behaviour.
In order to calculate the resistance fast and conveniently while keeping necessary accuracy, we propose an algorithm that uses the least squares curve fitting method and hyperbolic fitting functions to fit the resistivity and grounding resistance of layered soil model.
In addition we ask the question: What if data cannot be fit using the fitting functions incorporated in the data-analysis software that came with your ITC? Examples where such data might be generated include systems following non 1 n binding patterns and systems where binding is coupled to other events such as ligand dissociation.
To this end, we performed pairwise data set mapping with each of the fitting functions, and the function with the fit performance (lowest "MD") was noted.
This curve fitting was performed using the nonlinear least square fitting functions in the MATLAB Curve Fitting Toolbox (The Mathworks, Natick, MA, USA).
For example, we found that none of these initial fitting functions (Boltzmann or Gaussian) was a good fit for ILD functions like those shown in Fig. 1C.
Arbitrary known surfaces were created and used to validate and compare the goodness-of-fit of the thin plate spline with other fitting functions (e.g., bi-cubic spline).
For expert judgment to be reproducible and transparent, we offer a list of guidelines for fitting functions to volcanic impact data using statistical data fitting techniques.
Solid lines represent the fitting functions.
They are derived by fitting functions to the outputs from simulators.
One-dimensional fitting functions neglecting magnetic field consistency have been adopted in previous numerical studies.
