Even if the dose response relationship fits a threshold-like model, using the median arsenic level in each village as the exposure indicator might not generate accurate risk estimates because villages with similar median arsenic levels can have very different distributions of exposures.
For each threshold value h, we fit a threshold model to the data for the available cities.
Note that the selection of prioritized genes set { g1, ···, g k} here is addressed by fitting a threshold θ R in the step of disease gene prioritization.
Wang et al. extended the BayesCπ method to fit a threshold model for ordinal traits and reported very similar accuracies for the normal and threshold models for simulated traits with four or eight classes and an approximately normal distribution.
