LOWER MANHATTAN Puppet Theater From Vietnam Multicolored swans, jumping fish, plumed peacocks, fairies (shown below) and pirouetting dragons that breathe real fire and spout water bring folk stories from Vietnam to life at the Saigon Water Puppet Theater at the Hudson River Festival.
A variety of dances are presented with fairies, fish, flowers, mushrooms, and leaves, including "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy", "Chinese Dance", "Dance of the Flutes", "Arabian Dance", "Russian Dance" and "Waltz of the Flowers".
Adapted by David F. Eliet, they include a story in which a magic fish functions as the fairy godmother and another in which the protagonist is male.
