The noise subpopulation was removed from the fire peak subpopulation by applying a threshold corresponding to the 99th percentile of the noise distribution.
WT and Kcnma1−/− SFR recordings suggest that the combination of losing ∼30% of the rhythmic firing patterns and changing the parameters of the residually rhythmic activity (decreased circadian variation in firing rate, slightly lengthened period, and increased variability of the daily firing peak) is enough to produce a phenotype in circadian behavioral rhythms.
