This cause needs more "champions" — respected public figures and opinion leaders who act as its ambassadors around the world.
At first sight it looks pretty cynical: an election is coming, the party is struggling to get into double figures in opinion polls, it has shed a whole heap of its left-leaning support to Labour, and so tries to woo those voters back with a panicky lurch away from egregious nastiness.
