The #FEELINGS Official SXSW 2014 Showcase is the first time my label is officially presenting our artists to the SXSW festival fun machine.
This season alone, the company presented two works that had been included in previous festivals the festival: John Zorn's "Machine de l'Être," which was mostly praised, and Stephen Schwartz's "Séance on a Wet Afternoon," which was mostly panned.

Demmel played some festival shows with Machine Head (including a headlining slot at the With Full Force festival in Germany).

Elsewhere in the festival, Iverson's Soft Machine enthusiasms might have been reawakened at the Pizza Express Jazz Club by Italian composer/pianist Maria Chiara Argirò and her subtly percussive, cinematically evocative ensemble – blending electronics, guitar, sax and Leïla Martial's soaring vocals on the music from Argirò's upcoming Hidden Seas album.
And at the same festival Rage Against The Machine table-thumped against a grab bag of causes that left me totally addled.
Among them were Halloween costumes, Doo Dah Parade decorations, "Have a Nice Day" banners, credit-card late fees, poultry-festival supplies, a popcorn machine, and a thousand-dollar donation to a Baptist congregation that was said to be important to Lynda Russell's reëlection.
Eventually, as soldiers and loggers replaced their elephants with machines, festivals became the best way owners could turn a profit on such high-maintenance animals.
