Push notifications for mobile devices will be arriving soon, says Ticketfly, but feed alerts in Pandora's app are already live.
There could also be video news feeds for HBO, Netflix or regional sports networks, as well as audio news feeds for Spotify and Pandora.
Users are asked to build out their profile, and can also bring in content they create on blogs (or any RSS feeds, Flickr, LinkedIn, Pandora, Photobucket, iLike, Twitter, WordPress and Yelp. When you do something new on those sites, the information flows into Live.com for your friends to see (in a very similar way as FriendFeed, Plaxo and others do today).
By way of Pandora's Twitter feed, I issued a call for users who not only listened to the service a lot but also felt that it had had some kind of impact on their listening tastes.
For example, you can share what station you're listening to and send that right to your music feed for all of your Pandora followers to see.
Further, in typical Plex fashion, users can choose news topics that are most interesting to them, curating their own news feed experience, sort of like a Pandora of news, but in video format.
A station on Pandora is a highly customized feed of music based on the user's preferences.
An "Activity Feed" section is also available, which, much like Pandora's (for those who authenticate with Facebook), shows you who's listening to what and when.
This works not just as Pandora's music-focused equivalent of Facebook's News Feed, but it also gives Pandora a better way of improving discovery on mobile handsets — in general one of those areas that the mobile world hasn't really perfected yet so always good to see more attempts at trying to get it right.
This has made it possible to place advertising not around the periphery of content but "in the stream," whether that is the Pink Floyd channel on Pandora, an episode of Modern Family on Hulu, or my news feed on Facebook.
