UNICEF will respond to the 30,750 expected cases of SAM, while working to prevent malnutrition through blanket feeding, micronutrient supplementation, food fortification and the promotion of good health and hygiene practices.
In Burundi, UNICEF works on effective nutrition interventions, including support to exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding practices, micronutrient supplementation, food fortification, deworming, community-based health and hygiene promotion, and community-based management of acute malnutrition.
In this review we have included trials that evaluated the disaggregated evidence of the impact of education on CF alone, and provision of CF with or without education (excluding those on food fortification and supplementary feeding) on growth and morbidity in children less than 2 years of age in LMICs.
Finally, the present investigation was not designed to explore enteral feeding practices in detail in terms of fortification strategies, feeding techniques and breastfeeding polices, which might produce differences in growth outcome, as illustrated by other studies [ 20, 21].
This involves action in four areas: Infant and young child feeding (IYCF); (b) Micronutrient supplementation and food fortification; (c) Integrated management of acute malnutrition (IMAM); and (d) Ensuring care and hygiene practices.
Further, muscular AMP phosphorylation and UCP-3 expression were reduced by HFD feeding, but dietary KAA fortification partially reversed this effect (Figures 6C, D).
These include promotion of breastfeeding and appropriate complementary feeding; vitamin A, iron and folate supplementation; management of acute malnutrition and food fortification.
In contrast, other studies found protective effects for childhood infectious diseases, breast-feeding, prenatal vitamin supplements, maternal history of previous fetal loss, folic acid food fortification and allergic disease, and Down Syndrome in the child [ 12, 29– 35].
To compare the effect of initiating human milk fortification at 2 different feeding volumes on feeding intolerance and the time to reach full feeding volume.
These interventions include: promoting breastfeeding and good infant and child feeding practices; micronutrient supplementation and fortification; treatment of severe acute malnutrition; and community support for nutrition programming.
