"faulty correlation" is a correct and usable phrase in written English
It is typically used to describe a mistaken or incorrect relationship between two factors or variables. It can also refer to a lack of connection or correlation between things that are believed to be related. Example: There is a faulty correlation between unemployment rates and college graduation rates. While many believe that higher unemployment rates lead to more people pursuing higher education, studies have shown that there is no significant correlation between the two variables.
