Lab-On-a-Chip (LOC) technology exploits the progresses in microfluidics, enjoying very fast transport times and accurate knowledge of molecular concentrations.
Our data showed that, as compared to ground transport, HEMS transported patients presented a significantly faster median transport time, a faster time to meeting criteria for severe sepsis or septic shock after arrival, a higher SOFA score, higher incidence of ARDS, a higher need for invasive mechanical ventilation, higher ICU mortality, and increased hospital mortality.
Interestingly, despite of having comparable size to dextran-2000k (28 nm), the γ-PGA-Phe NPs distinctly showed approximately 20 times faster transport across the 5L-AWMs, suggesting the effect of intrinsic properties of the substance on the transport.
