STARTING a small farm can pay rich dividends, especially if the farm produces niche foods like artisanal cheeses or truffles.
Sanderson Farms currently has a dividend yield of 1.98%, based on last night's closing price of $28.25.
Their company Cream O' Galloway produces dairy products with waste-generated electricity, allows calves to remain with their mothers, and proves that non-intensive farming can pay dividends.
And it's paying high prices to its own dairy-farm owners, almost as a form of dividend.
Only four– Sanderson Farms, Harley Davidson, Federated Investors and Claire's Stores currently pay a dividend.
