Our analysis is based upon the description by Besley (1995) and Mullen et al. (2008) of the link between land rights and investment decisions, who discuss two relevant arguments according to which land management arrangements could influence off-farm choice decisions in the context of China, in particular, the decision by rural households to migrate and participate in outside labor markets.
