If no longer in the facility, reason (death, hospitalization, discharge at home or in another institution) and date of death or discharge were recorded.
Interviews aim to gain a deeper understanding of various issues, including reasons for service-use patterns, choice and perceptions of different facilities, reasons for non-use (including service-related stigma), and contraceptive and sexual health behaviours, including communication with partners and other community members about care-seeking decisions.
Dillingham stated that "in order to be courageous, a man in time of physical strife must abandon the highest of his human facilities, reason and imagination, and act instinctively, even animalistically".
Two of these six agreed to participate (non-participants cited a lack of time and inability to give access to the facility as reasons for refusal).
The questions concerned the size of the practice, number of wounds observed and T-PEP treatments given, knowledge regarding the annual number of tetanus cases in the Netherlands, guidelines adopted at the responding facility and reasons for choosing those guidelines.
Being unaware of need for immunization, unaware of need to return for second or third dose, unknown place and/or time of immunization, fear of side effect, wrong ideas about contraindications, absence of faith in immunization, inconvenient time of immunization absence of vaccinator and vaccine and long waiting time at health facility were reasons for not fully immunizing their children.
Among those mothers who visited health facilities, the reasons for visiting health facilities during the last pregnancy included ANC services, delivery, problems related to pregnancy and problems not related to pregnancy [Figure 2].
For example, when considering breast cancer screening, services located at non-health facilities were perceived as more accessible than those at health facilities; however, reasons for this requires further research [ 14].
