76% of patients ranked facial figures as their last choice.
71% patients ranked the survival curve as either their first or second most preferred graph, with 76% rating facial figures their least preferred.
All the facial figures are based on average shape (after morphing) of actual individuals in the unrepaired CL/P and Control groups.
To examine patients' preferences for graphical formats displaying survival probability, four examples which are most commonly used in the medical literature and public press were displayed: survival curve, bar chart, pie chart and facial figures (fig. 1).
Reasons for rating the facial figure last choice included "muddled", "confusing", "childish" and "not enough detail".
In the next preprocess for the M facial image (Figure 2), we employ an image of the average face of German men created by a face generator [32].

We then choose the geometric features by using 20 salient facial points (see Figure 4) including six brow corners and mid-points (p1, p2, p3, p4, p5, and p6), eight eye corners and mid-points (p7, p8, p9, p10, p11, p12, p13, and p14), two nostrils (p15 and p16), and four mouth corners and mid-points (p17, p18p19, and p20) to represent the facial shape.
Secondly, in our published cranio-facial morphology figure (Fig. four in the original study), the symbols for P. endlicheri congicus and P. e. endlicheri were switched.
Specific difficulties that have been reported include object and facial recognition, figure-background contrast discrimination and color perception, among others.
Sexual dimorphism measures were also taken from points marked on facial features (Figure 1).
