In their study, patients were asked to perform memory-guided saccades but with an intervening eye displacement either caused by visually-guided saccades, a smooth tracking eye movement or a whole body movement.

The threshold for detecting a saccadic eye movement was an eye displacement greater than 0.2° at a velocity of not less than 20°/s across all individuals.

Our findings led to the hypothesis (Goossens and Van Opstal 2006) that the instantaneous cumulative number of spikes in the burst, n(t), reflects the instantaneous eye displacement along the saccade vector, p t).

However, despite this imposed kinematic relationship, the phase plot between the cumulative spike count of the SC cell and the actual eye displacement was not invariant to the temporal changes in the SC burst.

Each camera is located directly in front of the LCD for each eye minimizing the eye displacement between the display viewpoint and the camera viewpoint, allowing the user to effectively "see through" the HMD with a video see-through AR view.

From the simulations in this paper, we conclude that the tight relationship between SC firing rates and saccadic eye displacement for both fast and very slow blink-perturbed saccades can only be explained if the nonlinear main sequence is embedded in the SC spatial-temporal activity patterns.

Engagement of the memory and an adaptive compensation of eye displacements may be the reason why even though there is continuous eye jitter, our vision is perceived perfectly clear and stable [ 19].

They further found that markings with centres displaced inwards, making them seemingly three-dimensional and eye-like, were attacked no differently than non-eye-like markings without centre displacement [ 22].

According to this theory, SC cells are not involved in generating the actual saccade trajectory and kinematics, but their weighted and scaled output (the center-of-gravity of the population, Eq. 7) represents the instantaneous desired eye-displacement signal toward the goal.

The kinematics variables considered were: (i) head displacement (eye centre position; x- and y-axis); (ii) beak opening speed (given in mm ms−1); (iii) beak closing speed (measured in mm ms−1); (iv) beak opening acceleration (given in mm ms−2); and (v) beak closing acceleration (given in mm ms−2).

In the control group, 5 eyes showed anterior displacement and 8 eyes showed posterior displacement and in the fibrin glue group, 1 eye showed anterior displacement, and 6 eyes showed posterior displacement.
