If necessary for the role, contouring to change face shape should be done at this stage--highlighting cheekbones, increasing eye depth, narrowing or attaching little importance the nose, highlighting a weak chin, emphasizing less on a lantern jaw, adding age lines.
Line B progeny had higher growth rates (1036 versus 956 g per day, S.E.=15, P<0.01), higher feed intakes (2657 versus 2470 g per day, S.E.=61.2, P<0.05), but similar gain:feed ratios, as compared to the progeny of line A. Line B pigs tended to have smaller loin-eye depths (P<0.10), and had greater lean growth rates (P<0.01) than line A pigs.
They found moderate h² estimates for US scan traits for eye muscle depth (0.28) and for fat depth (0.29), whereas CT traits showed higher (across breed) h estimates for fat (0.36 and 0.40), but not for the eye muscle area (0.24) (Table 4).
C gilts were heavier, and had greater back-fat and eye muscle depth at farrowing than R gilts, but had smaller litter sizes (P < 0.01).

Six Poll Dorset sires with extensive progeny records were selected on the basis of having a range of EBVs for the Eye Muscle Depth (EMD) (Table 1).
The traits ultrasound scanned eye muscle depth (EMD; 1781 animals) and live weight at ultrasound scanning (SC_WT; 1743 animals) were evaluated.
The traits investigated were post-weaning weight (PWWT), post-weaning scanned eye muscle depth (PW-EMD) and post-weaning scanned fat (PW-FAT) measured between 125 and 300 days of age (standard deviation or SD = 52.4).
Six Poll Dorset sires with a range of Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs) of accuracy greater than 90% for the yearling trait Eye Muscle Depth (EMD) were identified in Australian industry flocks using LAMBPLAN [ 45] (Table 1).
Production trait measurements included: weaning weight at 3 months (kg; WWT), LW at 6 or 8 months (kg; LW8), fleece weight at 12 months (kg; FW12), ultra sound eye muscle depth (mm; EMD), and dag score (faecal accumulation in the perineum region) at 3 or 8 months (DAG3, DAG8).
