Participants were asked to rate the importance of each information item to their decision-making about where to birth, using a five-point scale (1 = extremely unimportant, 2 = unimportant, 3 = neutral, 4 = important, 5 = extremely important).
To check that participants rated the value they wrote about as more important in the self-affirmation than the control condition, they were asked : 'How important to you is the value that you selected to write about?' (7-point scale: Extremely unimportant – Extremely important).
