Even assuming unknown receptors in the surface of leukemic cells may be binding with salix extract compounds and leading to DNA destruction (Figure 5) the mode of action of salicin and saligenin is not clear.
After an overnight incubation at 37°C in 5% CO2 and a humidified atmosphere, the extract, compounds and the positive control (actinomycin D) were added to the cells.
