The epidermis is a stratified squamous, keratinized epithelium composed of the stratum basale (SB), stratum spinosum (SS), stratum granulosum (SG), and stratum corneum (SC) (Watt, 1989).
Furthermore, investigations of extensions of the existing statistical methods that would formalise such ideas for borrowing strength to produce stratum specific tests and estimates of bias are under way.
