During the glacial periods, for instance, a drier and cooler climate occurred in South and Southeastern Brazil, and grasslands may have extended from latitudes ~ 28°/27° S to at least 20° S on savanna landscapes, although the precise age of the arid period may differ due to latitude [ 16].
