Fifty children of the patients diagnosed with AD and an ApoE ε4 allele (high risk), 50 children of demented patients without an ApoE ε4 allele (medium risk) and 50 participants without a parent with dementia (eg, spouses of extant cases on the register) and with an ApoE ε2 and no ApoE ε4 allele (low risk) will be followed up for over 2 years.
While the tension on which I rely exists within the body of our extant case law, a rereading of that case law will not, of course, mark the limits of any enquiry directed to reexamining the Smith rule, which should be reviewed in light not only of the precedent on which it was rested, but also of the text of the Free Exercise Clause and its origins.
