In order to address whether dInR and PI3K are intrinsically required by neuroblasts for the exit from quiescence, we used grh-GAL4 to express negative regulators of the pathway within neuroblasts.
RNA sequencing on sporadic BL and BL cell lines revealed monoallelic mutations within TCF3 (also called E2A), biallelic mutations within its highly expressed negative regulator Inhibitor of DNA binding-3 (ID3), as well as infrequent (7%) mutations of the inhibitory phosphatase, PTEN (see Figure 2).
