Of the 23 pathways selectively upregulated in CRCs, six pointed to the activation of the G1-to-S phase transition: SA REG CASCADE OF CYCLIN EXPR (Regulatory cascades of cyclin expression), BIOCARTA SKP2E2F PATHWAY, BIOCARTA CELLCYCLE PATHWAY, BIOCARTA P27 PATHWAY, REACTOME G1 PHASE, and BIOCARTA RB PATHWAY (see also first section of Results and Discussion).
In any case, we show here that expR-defective strains (Rm1021, Rm2011 and their fadD-derivative mutants) can swarm on semisolid MM which suggests that the role of ExpR in swarming needs to be re-evaluated.

To repair expR, the corresponding genomic sequence of strain Rm8530 [ 89] was amplified using primers 5′-ACACAAGCTTCTTCTGAACGGCGTATTCACA and 5′-TGATGAATTCCATTCCGTCGGCGAGATAGT and cloned into the HindIII and EcoRI restriction sites of pK18mobsac [ 90].
Great similarity and vitality of AspR with gasping was supported by its persistence at the absence of CR and ExpR in premortal gasping stage after medullary transsection 5 mm above the obex in cats [ 35], fitting the localization of "inspiratory generator".
Beside these, the PecS repressed expI gene [ 110] coding for the LuxI homolog in D. dadantii for the production of AHL, the expR gene that activates PecS and which encodes the AHL receptor are down-regulated only in D. dadantii, and their orthologs are unaffected in P. atrosepticum.
Six genes are present in Rm1021 only: cgmB, the second and the third copies of fixT, the second copy of nodP, the second copy of fixK and the expR fragment; this means that expR is disrupted in Rm1021 and therefore it doesn't give any functional products.
