To further develop the space research using tardigrades, the setup of experiments with the possibility to change the exposition condition of metabolically hydrated animals, as well as the possibility to expose desiccated tardigrades to open space, is necessary.
In order to distinguish differences in gene expression due to direct light exposition from those generated by circadian rhythmicity, we compared retinas obtained at the same time of the day, after 1.5 h of light exposition (condition 2) compared to the retinas obtained in sibling mice kept during all this time in the dark after the night cycle (condition 1).
Similarly, Cbx4 and Desi1 (pattern II) had a constant increase of expression from condition 1 to 4. The retinal transcription factor Nr2e3 (pattern III) showed a sharp peak in response to light exposition (condition 2) that steadily decreased to the initial levels (condition 4 and 1).
However some problems may arise with the use of traditional FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer), particularly when the compatibility with the substrate and the reversibility of the intervention are required, as in case of cultural heritage buildings, or specific exposition conditions may compromise the long term effectiveness of the reinforcement, as in presence of high temperature and humidity.
To provide a sound basis for an improved risk assessment for PPD and related aryldiamines as well as for further regulative decisions, further efforts to uncover their reaction pathways and products formed under human exposition conditions seem to be inevitable.
In particular, frequent cleaning is required because using demineralised water is normally not possible in most exposition conditions so that already after few weeks of display the statues show significant encrustation of calcareous deposits.
We also observed that PEG-SPION are tolerable (unchanged cell viability) to A549, MDA-MB-231 and Jurkat cells in the range of 0.1 2.5 [Fe] mM, when subjected to the field under similar exposition conditions (see Fig. 8).
Even though the actual exposition conditions of the series can be considered very challenging and rather far from those generally encountered on bronze statues exposed outdoor, the conservation and maintenance strategy here reported, based on the use of sacrificial protective layers, represents a suitable alternative also in more traditional conditions.

After 30 days of exposition to atmospheric conditions, Raman bands from PSi remain unchanged, as shown in Figure 4, whereas photoluminescence intensity decreases on a 37% and blue-shift to 747 nm, indicating an oxidation of PSi layer due to its exposition to air [23].
