The prize, named to honor French Studies Professor Emerita Isabelle de Courtivron, recognizes "student writing on topics related to immigrant, diaspora, bicultural, bilingual, and/or multi-racial experiences". The prize competition is open to all MIT undergraduates.
"I've never experienced a prize where everyone was in full agreement.
She says she found the experience of the prize "exciting but I felt out of my depth quite often".
Other ventures include sponsoring a local secondary school, and partnering local universities to offer work experience and prize money towards tuition fees.
"The Listening Room now opens the doors for a worldwide audience to enjoy the MIT musical experience". The prize, from the American Economic Association, recognizes outstanding young women in economics.
But for a uniquely Cambodian experience, the prize goes to the cyclo tours of the city centre.
"FanDuel has always sought to deliver the most unique and rewarding experiences or prizes to our users," said FanDuel CFO Andy Giancamilli in a statement.
Collaborating with MIT D-Lab and IDIN and their partners has taken me to many surprising and extraordinary places – this experience deserves a prize for the most exciting and unexpected: in the past two weeks I've mixed elephant dung and chili powder, crafted beads out of ostrich shells, and eaten worms by a fire.
"It's not a meaningless experience, winning the prize – it does have an effect on your career, and it's a very well-run, well-regarded award.
Argent is a project which recently won the prestigious inaugural user experience prize at Devcon4 by addressing many of these issues.
