According to the phenomenon of cross-sensory suppression [Laurienti et al., 2002] such deactivation during the processing of demanding auditory stimuli is expected in (modality-specific) visual regions.
For example college (i.e. discipline) membership, course level or modality, expected grade or desire to take a particular course have little to do with their course ratings.
Although we would expect these modalities to identify a population with a high degree of overlap, it is probable that there will be some discordance.
The routine use of RT-PCR testing has only recently become available in Canada (only 20% of tests used RT-PCR methods as of 2005/06 [23]), but increased use of this modality is expected to improve accuracy.
Based on the above, for the visual modality, we expected that there may be minimal differences between those with and without reading disability in top-down influence from inferior frontal gyrus to middle temporal gyrus, but significant differences in bottom-up influence from fusiform gyrus to middle temporal gyrus.
However, there is no further specification of patient selection, treatment modality and expected outcome due to a lack of randomized controlled trials [ 18, 19].
In this case, we required only that the signaller should be oriented towards and looking at the presumed target individual, and that their subsequent behaviour should be consistent with that assignment, i.e. if the target fails to orient towards the signaller, persistence with audible gestures or switching to the tactile modality is expected.
Five-year survival rates > 20% can be expected with this combined-modality approach.
Additionally, smoothing of the data improved the classification accuracy in both imaging modalities as expected.
Participants said DCs offered many modalities, but expected chiropractors to provide "hands-on" treatments or spinal manipulation to deal with the cause of the pain (Table 3).
