The age at which the cardiovascular disease risk reaches 50% is the expected age for a cardiovascular event to occur.
With current risk factors, the expected age for a cardiovascular event to occur is 80 years (in 49 years time), but with better risk factor control this would be around 83 years (three years later).
This is estimated by comparing the age at death of those dying due to cancer and the expected age at death for each individual or a pre-specified cut-off age (for example mean age at death in the population).
For each duration of ART, life tables based on estimated mortality rates by sex, age, latest CD4+ cell count and viral suppression (HIV-1 RNA <400 copies/ml), were used to estimate expected age at death for ages 20 85 years.
The expected age at qualification for horses with genotype CC was increased by 5.5 months compared with horses with genotype TT (P = 1×10−4).
The corresponding expected age at death for HIV-positive women was 69 (65 73), 74 (70 78) and 78 (73 82) years, compared with 81, 82 and 83 years in the general population.
If we closely scrutinize Fig. 4, however, we note that the patterns of two post-1986 school cohorts did not fit the expected pattern for the expected age by birth month, shown in Fig. 1, as the observed age gap between August-born children and September-born children is not as large as the 1-year difference.
Figures 1 (men) and 2 (women) illustrate that within each CD4+ cell count strata, expected age at death is higher for those with than those without viral suppression.
Expected age at death (95% CI) for men (Table 2) and women (Table 3) showed a graded association with both attained CD4+ cell count and viral suppression status.
Although some of the seamounts in the Kodiak-Bowie Seamount chain appear to follow the expected age progression for a mantle plume trail, others, such as Denson Seamount, are older than that hypothesis would suggest.
Because of the expected age-shift for both varicella and HZ, we pay special attention to generational differences by studying the incidence of both syndromes by birth cohort.
