In addition to total life expectancy at age 35, we also analysed partial life expectancy from age 35 to 75, since mortality amenable to health care is often reported for those under the age of 75.
Even as certain indicators of social development, such as life expectancy and literacy, have converged, we also find ourselves living in a parallel era of great divergences brought about by the very consequences of convergence where technology, free markets and democracy are viewed as the panacea to all human challenges.
