The first structures in the temple grounds were built in the 800s, though much of the temple that exists today was built in the 1700s.
But the building boom has passed some expansion teams by: the Mets have played at Shea Stadium since 1964; the Twins have occupied the unpopular Metrodome (with its celebrated outfield baggie) for 19 years; the Marlins toil at Pro Player Stadium (named for a company that no longer exists), which was built for football, and the Angels play in a renovated 35-year-old ballpark.
Elevators that had existed when the building was built needed to be replaced, walls knocked down the whole place was in need of a facelift.
