Re "The High Cost of Clutching Your Chest," by Sam Roberts (Week in Review, April 10), about his wife's chest pains and what followed: Annoying though it may be to receive a $5,000 hospital bill and the insurance company's denial to reimburse, the Robertses' story sounds to me like the kind of simple mistake that the appeals process exists to correct.
