Worse, in the past decade, sculptures closely related to those in the Paris exhibition have surfaced at New York auctions, in international art fairs — notably at Maastricht, the Netherlands — and several galleries dealing in Chinese antiquities.
But more importantly, the museum's exhibitions keep surfacing the "incorrigible plurality" – as the poet Louis MacNeice put it – of human beings and how that manifests in the communities, nation states and empires they build.
