So it's a little strange to hear C. Randal Mills, the new president and chief executive of the program known formally as the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, say it's time to instill in CIRM "a clear sense of mission".

"Get over the moonshot metaphor," urged Greg Simon, a former Pfizer executive, aide to former Vice President Al Gore and cancer survivor who has been named executive director of the program.
He eventually became the executive director of the program until it merged into the Legal Aid Society.
