For example, the excess physicians, nurses and beds from inefficient hospitals, respectively, were 3417, 5029 and 10 233 in 2012.
In the Philippines, producing an excess of nurses specifically for export has resulted in financial benefits, however, it has also resulted in a worsening skill mix in hospitals within the country [ 7].
On the basis of the number of discharges with CDI in the 2008 HCUP data, if 9% of adult hospital discharges coded for CDI were sent to an LTCF because of CDI, there would have been >30 600 excess discharges to nursing homes attributable to CDI.
In particular, we observed follicles with an excess number of nurse cells enveloped within a common monolayered follicular epithelium (Figure 1C).
This resulted in a mismatch of worker mix to local health and service delivery needs, with a general shortage of physicians and physician assistants, and a relative excess number of nurses and unskilled workers.

For each day shift, matching of required and available care was analyzed: mismatch is expressed as nurse deficit: positive values indicate excess of care (too many nurses for not too sick patients), zero suggests that assistance requirements are met, with negative values available care is less than patients' needs.
Was this one more example of baby boomer excess -- the regular nurses aren't good enough that we need someone at our beck and call 24 hours a day?
