Examples of the templates for the input and output questions are, respectively, "What does the [process] require?" and "What does the [process] produce?" Because the products of one process often serve as the raw materials of another one, we devised questions to help students review these connections.
One of the best examples of this template is Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, based on many of the details of the more working-class, real-life serial killer Ed Gein, whose story also inspired many other horror movies, from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to Silence of the Lambs.
In the following this paper provides more background to the PD and AF languages, discusses the translation process, presents an implementation in SBGN-ED, and finally shows examples of the template-based translation of SBGN PD maps to AF maps. Figure 2 shows the Process Description (PD) language reference card.

The examples of available templates for GL, GP, CL and SP are shown in Figure 4, Figure 5, Figure 6 and Figure 7 respectively (The Complete lists of templates GP and SP are available in Additional file 1: Figure S1 and Figure S2).
Examples of physical templates include holes and trenches that can be fabricated on a substrate surface using lithography and etching/lift-off techniques, surface steps that naturally exist on crystalline metal and semiconductor surfaces, corrugation of substrate surfaces, and channels formed in a microstamp for molecular printings.
An example of the template is illustrated in Fig. 9 by a magenta curve with circle.
An example of the template created is provided as Additional file 1 (page 1) and Additional file 2 (page 2).
Examples of such templates in the Neurology MEPI include 1) a standardized scoring rubric for trainee project applications, 2) standardized teleconference agendas and 3) standardized training modules for community education.
Fig. 1 presents an example of the template filled in with the information contained in a trial publication abstract.
