One example of such engineering would be to use bispecific antibody technology to engineer a bivalent molecule in which one arm contained a high-affinity binding site to anchor the antibody onto one Fas molecule and the other arm contained a low affinity binding site to efficiently recruit further Fas monomers.
With this example we show that trichomes are amenable to engineering though, even with knowledge of a biochemical pathway, the result of such engineering can be unexpected.
