Several examples of linkage drag in tomato and other crops have been quantified using molecular markers [ 17- 21].
Such studies seem to work well, the first examples of linkage studies show significant findings in samples of relatively limited size (e.g. [ 42, 150]) and so do (candidate gene based) association findings (e.g. references to Durston et al. [ 45]).
A clear example of linkage involves the wild silver foxes (bred by Soviet biologist Dmitri Belyaev for tameness) which ended up looking much like domesticated dogs with curled tails and floppy ears (Trut 1999).
An important example of linkage data being utilized to guide candidate gene association analysis is CNTNAP2, found associated in two studies (Alarcón et al, 2008; Arking et al, 2008), with further evidence from a subsequent genome-wide association study (GWAS; Anney et al, 2010).

Regarding our rotating annulus, there are many examples of perceptual linkages between the motions of multiple objects when at least one is ambiguous [31], [32], [33], [34], [35].
