Examples of debt slavery, indentured servitude, peonage, and other forms of forced labour exist around the world and throughout history, but the boundaries between them can be difficult to define (see slavery).
But with the report by the government's expert group on mortgage arrears hurtling towards us, it might be useful to consider a few worked examples of debt restructuring as and when they become important to us.
Liabilities: Charge card debt, outstanding bills, outstanding mortgage balance, car loans and property taxes are all examples of debt.
