When traumatic events happen, often the easiest way to deal with them is to simply ignore them.
Community gatherings are the most natural and common short-term response in the aftermath of such a tragedy; what felt different from the norm in Santa Fe after the latest American school massacre was the sense that despite theshock, such events happen often enough that it would be almost naive to experience disbelief.
