"event focus" is a correct and usable term in written English.
It refers to the part of a sentence that expresses what the sentence is primarily about or what action is taking place. It is often used in linguistics and grammar discussions. Example: In the sentence "The dog chased the cat," the event focus is on the action of chasing.
