Gillard believes the service appeals to consumers who need to buy something immediately, adding that even when the item is not in stock, the alert service increases the chance of a sale at a later date.
Even when the item parameters are unknown and must also be estimated, there are well-known estimation methods (e.g, Bayesian MCMC, Patz and Junker [1999]) to appropriately fix the scale of θ and the item parameters to ensure that the model is identified.4.4
That is, if a scale has enough items (e.g. more than 20), then it can have an alpha of ≥ 0.70 even when the correlation among items are very small [ 42].
Researchers investigate that alpha can take on quite high values even when the set of items measures several unrelated latent constructs [26, 27].
Interestingly, we also observe that different closing options lead to biclusters with different shapes, even when the number of items is the same (B4 and B5).
Importantly, all of our participants who met diagnostic criteria for lifetime depression did so even when the DSM-IV suicidality item (item 9) was removed.
Additionally, we have also shown that this beneficial effect can be observed even when the subset of cued items exceeds one (Makovski & Jiang, 2007), although performance was worse than when only one item was focused on (Anderson et al., 2013).
The present data could suggest that such tuning is most narrow among the most lean individuals, as i) they showed the largest bias towards foods in Experiment 1, and ii) they showed such a bias in Experiment 2 even when the food and nonfood items were visually similar.
Nonetheless, even when these items were included the pattern of significant differences was maintained.
