First, we have pointed to the use and reinforcement of essentialised notions of older age and ethnicity in research which often negatively position older and ethnic minority people in terms of their vulnerability and cultural difference, and hence as particularly challenging populations to research.
Although health utilities generally don't differ by ethnicity, further research is necessary [ 45].
It is important to understand variations in infant feeding by ethnicity as research on this topic might imply differing interventions for different groups.
Conclusion: The principles provide a strong foundation to guide future ethnicity-related research and build a broader international consensus.
For example, samples with a wider range of ages and different races or ethnicities, multicentre research teams, and the use of standardized technical and statistical procedures are desirable features for FeNO norms studies [ 7].
The importance of such involvement is particularly emphasised within the field of migration, ethnicity and health research, with many researchers and consumer organisations arguing that user participation is a fundamental principle of good research in this area [ 71, 72].
Researchers, policymakers and practitioners with substantial experience in ethnicity and health research, were invited to a UK Department of Health sponsored workshop to discuss the principles they believed should inform such research.
