Our study is limited in that we did not measure energy expenditure and fecal fat loss, both of which would provide valuable information given the discrepancy we saw between energy intake and estimated weight loss.
In the area of diabetes treatment, strength of evidence was moderate for race/ethnic differences in percentage estimated weight loss in patients with diabetes undergoing bariatric surgery; however, strength of evidence was poor for race/ethnic differences in remission of type 2 diabetes with bariatric surgery (34).
